Marine Engineer and Ship Surveyor in Belfast
Fred Stitt has been in the engineering business since the sixties, when he started out as an apprentice diesel fitter. From those humble beginnings, he has gone on to qualify as a marine engineer with a First Class Certificate of Competency from the Department of Trade in the late 1970s.
After graduating from the Ulster Polytechnic (now the University of Ulster), Fred briefly spent time as a Second Engineer before joining James Maxton Company in 1980 as a Surveyor. Years of sterling service resulted in him becoming a Partner in the company in June of 1996.
A Wealth of Experience
Since working as the company, Fred Stitt has carried out an extensive selection of roles in his capacity as an experienced ship surveyor. Roles that he has undertaken include:
- Surveyor to The Salvage Association
- Non-Exclusive Surveyor to Det Norske Veritas
- Non-Exclusive Surveyor to Bureau Veritas
- Approved Contractor to ABS
In all the above roles, Fred performed a huge range of surveys and inspections. His incredible depth of knowledge includes:
